Nothing for the faint-hearted

Obstacle Course Racing (OCR) is an extreme sport, in which athletes need to complete a race on foot while overcoming several obstacles such as walls, water, fire, barbed wire and mud. The races differ in difficulty, distance and combination of challenges, but the requirements are always the same: Endurance, mental and physical strength, speed, concentration and certain skills and expertise are required to succeed and finish the course.

Grown from military training, the “Tough Guy” in the UK is forefather of OCR. Spartan Race, Tough Mudder and Strong Viking are just some of the major OCR events that came later, and their names already say it quite well: This is nothing for the faint-hearted!

However, the sport has become very popular in the last decade with millions of participants worldwide. But only the best get the chance to compete in the European or even World Championship.

One of them is Sven Demuth: Qualified for the World Championship 2018 and European Championship in 2017 and 2018, LakeRun OCR Series 1st place in his class, finisher of MudMaster Nighshift, a 9 hours’ race, and the MudMaster 24 Hours Games and many more.

What drives people like Sven you might ask? For Sven, it’s his family and their support, the passion for the sports, his great team “Mudbusters” and letting out his inner Bastardo. That is not all Sven shares with us: He is also a great Espresso-Lover and enjoys his Bastardo Sports Coffee shot before workout sessions and competitions. Full delight and full focus.

Be like Sven: Don’t Stop When It Hurts, Stop When You Are Done!
